Q: When and how did you become a motorsports enthusiast?
A: AAMRR motorcycle club race, Loudon, NH, 1984. I crashed out of my first race, in the last turn, on the last lap, while dicing for last place.
Q: What kind of influence has that had on your life?
A: Motorsports have taught me to persevere, in all things. I also learned to enjoy life at my own speed. There will always be somebody faster, and that’s fine as long as I’m having fun.
Q: What makes volunteering at World of Speed meaningful to you?
A: It is an opportunity to give back to the community, to help a great organization, and to do something I enjoy.
Q: What is the most memorable experience of your time volunteering?
A: It was digitizing some unknown gearhead’s decades-old scrapbook. I saw pictures of Roosevelt Fields on Long Island in NY when it was a road race track! This was after Lindbergh’s famous flight but long before the modern day shopping mall, where I used to hang out.
Q: What do you wish other people knew about World of Speed?
A: How much STUFF we have around here, especially in the Archives! You could literally spend all day.
Q: If you could choose any vehicle to be displayed in the museum, what would it be?
A: Lewis Hamilton’s 2018 F1 Mercedes.
Q: What is your dream motorcycle? Dream car?
A: Yamaha RZ350. Lotus Elise.
