Q: When and how did you become a motorsports enthusiast?
At the age of 10 years old. My neighbor took me to a midget-car race. I smelled the alcohol, heard the sound of an Offy engine, and was hooked!
Q: What kind of influence has that had on your life?
I have always enjoyed auto racing of all kinds, and the fans I’ve associated with are just down-to-earth, solid American citizens.
Q: What makes volunteering at World of Speed meaningful to you?
Meeting people that are excited about coming into the museum.
Q: What is the most memorable experience of your time volunteering?
Almost daily, people will say “I have one just like that,” or “my dad/grandfather had the same kind.”
Q: What do you wish other people knew about World of Speed?
That it’s more than just a show place; it’s a place where young people can learn how to work on cars, get educated about them, and have fun doing it.
Q: If you could choose any vehicle to be displayed in the museum, what would it be?
1989–91 Mercedes 560 SEC.
