Four Winners at Norwalk
Gordon, Capps, Stanfield and Gadson headline the latest Mission Foods Series results.
There is no NHRA Mission Foods national event today, Tuesday, July 7, 2026. The latest completed race was the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals, held June 25โ28 at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio. Maddi Gordon won Top Fuel, Ron Capps won Funny Car, Aaron Stanfield won Pro Stock, and Richard Gadson won Pro Stock Motorcycle.
Gordonโs breakthrough was the biggest personal milestone of the weekend: she defeated Antron Brown with a 3.786-second pass at 333.16 mph to earn her first Top Fuel Wally in her first final-round appearance. Capps collected career win No. 80, Stanfield used a near-perfect .002 reaction time to win Pro Stock on a holeshot, and Gadson capitalized when Gaige Herrera red-lit in the motorcycle final.

Latest NHRA Winners: Summit Racing Equipment Nationals
The latest Mission Foods Series weekend produced four different winner stories. Maddi Gordon became a first-time Top Fuel winner. Ron Capps strengthened his Funny Car points lead with his third victory of the season. Aaron Stanfield won despite running a slower elapsed time than Matt Hartford because his .002 reaction time created the decisive holeshot. Richard Gadson added another Pro Stock Motorcycle victory and remained the championship leader.

Top Fuel and Funny Car use supercharged nitromethane engines and race to 1,000 feet. Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle race the quarter-mile and place far more emphasis on reaction time, naturally aspirated performance, chassis setup, and tiny finish-line margins. Top Fuel: Maddi Gordon Earns Her First Career Wally
Maddi Gordonโs Top Fuel victory was the defining result at Norwalk. Antron Brown reacted first with a .050 light against Gordonโs .075, but Gordonโs dragster took control by 330 feet and stayed ahead to the finish. Her 3.786 at 333.16 mph defeated Brownโs 3.840 at 328.14 mph by 0.0297 seconds, approximately 14 feet.
Gordon entered the event as a rookie still building experience against a field of champions. Winning in her first Top Fuel final immediately moved her to fourth in the standings with 614 points. Her result also strengthened Ron Capps Motorsports on a weekend when Capps won Funny Car, creating a professional-class team double.
Brown owned the starting-line advantage, but Gordonโs dragster made the stronger run. By 330 feet she had the lead, and her 333.16-mph finish converted a first final-round appearance into a first Top Fuel victory.
The Top Fuel championship remains led by Shawn Langdon, whose 1,010 points give him a 150-point advantage over Doug Kalitta. Gordonโs breakthrough places her behind Langdon, Kalitta, and Leah Pruett, but ahead of Antron Brown and Tony Stewart. The broader title picture is covered in the updated 2026 Top Fuel championship contenders guide.
A modern Top Fuel engine produces roughly 11,000 horsepower and is serviced between elimination rounds. The financial and mechanical scale is explained in how much an NHRA Top Fuel engine costs. Even a small clutch or fuel-system mismatch can turn a winning 3.7-second run into immediate tire smoke.
Top Fuel final-round breakdown
| Driver | Reaction | ET | Speed | Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Maddi Gordon | .075 | 3.786 | 333.16 mph | Winner by 0.0297 sec |
| Antron Brown | .050 | 3.840 | 328.14 mph | Runner-up |
Gordonโs result follows a busy first half of the season that included the Thunder Valley Nationals results, the New England Nationals results guide, and the Norwalk weekend covered in the Summit Racing NHRA Nationals report.
Funny Car: Ron Capps Reaches 80 Career Victories
Ron Capps defeated Jack Beckman in the Funny Car final with a 3.969-second run at 328.54 mph. Capps left first by three thousandths and never trailed, beating Beckmanโs 4.011 at 323.43 mph by 0.0458 seconds, roughly 22 feet. The victory was Cappsโ third of the season and the 80th of his NHRA career.
The result also expanded Cappsโ championship lead. He left Norwalk with 812 points, 121 ahead of Matt Hagan. J.R. Todd and Beckman remain close behind Hagan, while Jordan Vandergriff sits fifth. That compact group makes Funny Car one of the most competitive classes entering the Western Swing.

Cappsโ Norwalk victory arrived two weeks after Matt Hagan won at Bristol. That earlier result and its points impact are covered in the Matt Hagan Thunder Valley victory recap. With Capps now pulling ahead, the next regular-season races will determine how much of that lead survives the points reset.
Both categories use supercharged nitromethane engines, but a Funny Carโs short wheelbase and full composite body create a different aerodynamic and handling challenge. Top Fuel dragsters are longer and open-wheeled, while Funny Cars demand more steering correction and body management during a run.
Pro Stock: Aaron Stanfield Wins a 23-Inch Holeshot Final
Aaron Stanfieldโs Pro Stock final demonstrated why elapsed time alone does not decide a drag race. Matt Hartford ran the quicker pass, 6.597 at 207.98 mph, but Stanfieldโs extraordinary .002 reaction time created enough starting-line advantage to win with a 6.626 at 208.75 mph. The official margin was 0.0064 seconds, approximately 23 inches.
The victory was Stanfieldโs second of the season and 16th of his career. He moved to fifth in the Pro Stock standings with 617 points, while Dallas Glenn retained the lead by 23 points over Greg Anderson. Hartfordโs runner-up result moved him into third and kept the regular-season title contest open.
Stanfield was twenty-nine thousandths slower on elapsed time, yet his .002 reaction time won the race. In Pro Stock, the driverโs first movement can erase an engine-performance disadvantage before the cars reach sixty feet.
Pro Stock final-round summary
| Driver | Reaction | ET | Speed | Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aaron Stanfield | .002 | 6.626 | 208.75 mph | Holeshot winner by 0.0064 sec |
| Matt Hartford | .037 | 6.597 | 207.98 mph | Quicker ET; runner-up |
Pro Stock Motorcycle: Gadson defeats Herrera
Richard Gadson won the motorcycle final with a 6.849 at 197.36 mph after Gaige Herrera left 0.004 seconds before the green light. Herreraโs red light ended the race immediately even though he completed a 6.860-second run. Gadsonโs victory protected his championship lead and gave him 677 points, 83 more than Herrera.
In NHRA eliminations, leaving before the green light produces an automatic foul. The opponent only needs a legal run to advance. Herreraโs -.004 reaction meant Gadson was the winner as soon as his Suzuki left correctly, regardless of the two motorcyclesโ elapsed times.

2026 Season Context: Midseason Completed, Western Swing Next
Norwalk marked the halfway point of the 2026 Mission Foods season. The next two national events form the opening portion of the Western Swing: Sonoma Raceway on July 17โ19 and Pacific Raceways on July 24โ26. With only four regular-season races remaining after Norwalk, every round now affects seeding before the Countdown.
What is the Countdown to the Championship?
The NHRAโs playoff format resets the points for qualified drivers before the final six events. That makes regular-season positioning important without allowing a large summer lead to guarantee the championship. The full format, cut line, and reset are explained in the 2026 Countdown to the Championship guide.
The U.S. Nationals remains the final major regular-season target before the title run intensifies. Our NHRA U.S. Nationals guide explains the eventโs importance, while the 2026 U.S. Nationals contenders article tracks the drivers most likely to challenge for the sportโs biggest single-race trophy.
Frequently Asked Questions
The bigger picture after Norwalk
Norwalk delivered two different kinds of breakthrough. Maddi Gordon earned a first Top Fuel Wally in her first final, while Ron Capps reached an 80-win career milestone. Aaron Stanfield proved that reaction time can beat a quicker car, and Richard Gadson protected his motorcycle points lead under final-round pressure.
The championship leaders are now established, but the season is only halfway complete. Sonoma and Seattle begin the Western Swing, and the Countdown reset means every regular-season point remains valuable without making any current lead secure.
Full results from the next Mission Foods national event will be added after the DENSO NHRA Sonoma Nationals concludes on July 19, 2026.
