Road America IMSA 2026 Preview: The Quick Answer

Overall favorite · class leaders · strongest challengers

Who are the favorites for Road America IMSA 2026?

The No. 31 Cadillac Whelen is the overall favorite after winning at Detroit and Watkins Glen. The No. 93 Acura, Porsche’s leading entries and both BMW M Team WRT cars form the main GTP opposition. CrowdStrike, Paul Miller Racing and Heart of Racing lead their championship classes.

Cadillac brings the best current GTP package on results. Aitken has scored points in every round and owns a 203-point lead over Laurin Heinrich. The No. 31 also led 143 of 182 laps at Watkins Glen.

Nevertheless, Road America is not a simple extension of Watkins Glen. Its long straights reward low drag and strong acceleration. Meanwhile, the Carousel and Kink demand a stable high-speed platform.

Acura enters with a proven qualifying case. The No. 93 took Road America pole in 2025 and finished third. Renger van der Zande and Nick Yelloly also sit third in the current driver standings.

Porsche has strength through numbers and variety. The factory Penske cars remain close to Cadillac in the manufacturer table. JDC-Miller’s No. 5 has also shown that a private entry can win outright.

BMW carries the strongest circuit-specific evidence. BMW M Team RLL finished first and second at Road America last season. The program has since moved to BMW M Team WRT, but the M Hybrid V8 remains a serious contender.

IMSA Championship Standings Before Road America

Official points after the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park weekend

Who leads GTP before Road America?

Jack Aitken leads with 2,145 points. Laurin Heinrich is second on 1,942, a gap of 203. Renger van der Zande and Nick Yelloly share third on 1,900. Felipe Nasr and Julien Andlauer follow with 1,887 points.

Aitken’s lead is substantial, but Road America still carries major points. A poor six-hour race can erase much of a sprint-race advantage. Moreover, qualifying points add value before the green flag.

The team table tells a slightly different story. Cadillac Whelen leads with 2,145 points. The No. 93 Acura sits second with 1,900, while the No. 7 Porsche follows on 1,887.

Manufacturer points remain closer. Cadillac leads Porsche by 80 points, 2,182 to 2,102. Acura is third on 2,028, followed by BMW on 1,936.

LMP2 is the closest fight at the top. CrowdStrike leads Inter Europol by 70 points, while AO Racing sits only 81 points behind. Every one of the first four LMP2 rounds has produced a different winner.

GTD PRO remains tightly packed behind Paul Miller Racing. The No. 4 Corvette is second, but only 60 points separate second through sixth. Consequently, one Road America result can transform the class table.

Heart of Racing’s Dudu Barrichello leads GTD by 92 points. However, Vasser Sullivan, Turner Motorsport and Winward Racing all arrive with recent podium or victory form.

🚀

GTP Contenders: Cadillac, Acura, Porsche and BMW

Current form, Road America fit and race-winning routes

Who are the GTP favorites at Road America?

Cadillac Whelen starts as the favorite. The No. 93 Acura is the strongest qualifying challenger, while Porsche offers three entries with recent podium or victory form. BMW is the leading circuit-specific dark horse after the M Hybrid V8 finished first and second at Road America in 2025.

No. 31 Cadillac Whelen: The Championship Reference

The No. 31 Cadillac has combined speed with repeatability. It won the Detroit sprint and the Watkins Glen six-hour race. More importantly, the entry has not left the GTP podium since Indianapolis in 2025.

Watkins Glen supplied the clearest evidence. The Cadillac was fastest in practice, took pole and led 143 of 182 laps. Aitken held more than seven seconds when the final yellow appeared.

Road America should suit the V-Series.R’s acceleration and braking strength. The long straights create passing opportunities, while the heavy stops at Turns 5 and 12 reward a stable rear axle.

However, the championship lead changes the risk calculation. Aitken does not need to force a marginal move through the Kink. Cadillac can accept strong points if another car owns the final restart.

No. 93 Acura: The Strongest Pole Candidate

Van der Zande and Yelloly remain the nearest full-season pairing to Aitken on points. They finished second at Watkins Glen and enter Road America 245 points behind.

Their 2025 Road America weekend adds confidence. The No. 93 took pole and finished third behind the two BMWs. Acura therefore has direct evidence that the ARX-06 can produce qualifying speed here.

The Acura’s challenge is converting that speed across six hours. Traffic, tire balance and pit timing will matter more than one 15-minute session. Still, clean air from pole would protect the front tires during the first stint.

No. 7 Porsche Penske: The Factory Championship Threat

Felipe Nasr and Julien Andlauer sit only 258 points behind Aitken. Their Porsche has scored strongly across endurance and sprint formats.

Porsche also sits only 80 points behind Cadillac in the manufacturer standings. Therefore, Road America matters beyond one entry. A double factory podium could close the title race quickly.

The 963 should work through the long, fast corners. However, Porsche must maintain tire balance as the front axle loses grip. The Carousel can punish a car that begins to understeer.

No. 5 JDC-Miller Porsche: The Most Dangerous Private Entry

Laurin Heinrich’s season is unusual because his points include early factory Porsche results and later JDC-Miller races. Nevertheless, his position is real. He sits second in the championship.

Heinrich won at Laguna Seca with a final-lap charge. At Watkins Glen, he recovered from a lap down and passed the No. 24 BMW for third during the closing 13 minutes.

JDC-Miller cannot match the factory depth, but it can win on execution. A clean race and a well-timed caution would place the No. 5 in the overall fight.

BMW M Team WRT: The Defending-Car Dark Horse

BMW’s 2025 1-2 finish cannot be ignored. Philipp Eng and Dries Vanthoor won in the No. 24, while Marco Wittmann and Sheldon van der Linde followed in the No. 25.

The team has changed from RLL to WRT, yet the car’s basic strengths remain relevant. The M Hybrid V8 works well when straight-line efficiency and high-speed stability matter.

Current form is less convincing than Cadillac’s. The No. 24 finished fourth at Watkins Glen after Heinrich passed late. Even so, Road America may expose more of BMW’s top-speed potential.

The strongest BMW route is simple. Qualify inside the first two rows, remain within the leading fuel cycle and attack after the final caution.

Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing: Better Than the Points Suggest

The No. 40 and No. 10 Cadillacs sit ninth and tenth in the team standings. Those positions do not reflect the organization’s potential.

Wayne Taylor Racing knows how to execute long IMSA races. The V-Series.R also shares the manufacturer package leading the standings.

However, both cars need a cleaner complete weekend. Road America offers recovery room, but six hours also creates more chances for contact or penalties.

Aston Martin Valkyrie: A High-Speed Upset Candidate

The No. 23 Aston Martin THOR Team sits 11th in the GTP team standings. Ross Gunn and Roman De Angelis are 13th among the regular drivers.

The Valkyrie remains a developing program. Yet Road America’s long straights and dramatic fast sections make it one of the most interesting tracks for the car.

A dry podium would still be an upset. Nevertheless, strong top speed and a caution-assisted strategy could move Aston Martin into the top five.

Which Cars Best Suit Road America?

Long straights · heavy braking · high-speed balance · multiclass traffic

What will decide the Road America IMSA race?

Top-speed efficiency, braking stability, tire balance and multiclass traffic should decide the race. Cars must accelerate well from Turns 5 and 14, remain stable through the Carousel and Kink, and complete clean passes. Six hours also makes fuel flexibility and caution timing essential.

Road America is listed at four miles on IMSA’s event page and contains 14 turns. It is the longest circuit on the current WeatherTech Championship schedule.

The lap begins with an uphill straight and a fast Turn 1. Drivers then accelerate toward the heavy Turn 5 braking zone. The second half contains the Carousel, Kink and Canada Corner.

Low Drag Matters, but Downforce Still Wins Time

A low-drag setup improves speed on three major straights. It helps prototypes clear GT traffic before the braking zones. However, removing too much rear wing can damage confidence through the Carousel and Kink.

Therefore, teams need efficiency rather than minimum downforce. The best car creates useful cornering load without paying a large straight-line penalty.

Readers can review how downforce works and why wing angle changes aerodynamic balance.

Turn 5 and Canada Corner Reward Braking Stability

Turn 5 is the clearest overtaking point. A car that remains stable under braking can attack without overheating the front tires.

Canada Corner creates another opportunity late in the lap. It also becomes important during traffic. A prototype can complete a clean pass before the final sector.

The Carousel Separates Qualifying Cars From Race Cars

A nervous front end may still produce one fast qualifying lap. Over a stint, the same balance creates understeer and tire stress.

The leading race cars will preserve front response through the Carousel. That quality may matter more than absolute top speed during the middle four hours.

The Kink Punishes Impatience

GTP cars close rapidly on GT traffic. However, the Kink offers little space for correction. A delayed pass costs less than contact.

Spotters and drivers must communicate clearly. The slower car should remain predictable, while the faster car chooses a safe side.

World of Speed’s slipstream guide, grip explainer and crash analysis add context to these decisions.

🟣

LMP2 Favorites: CrowdStrike, Inter Europol and AO Racing

Three teams separated by only 81 championship points

Who are the LMP2 favorites at Road America?

CrowdStrike Racing leads the championship and offers the safest consistency pick. Inter Europol arrives after winning at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. AO Racing is the slight Road America race favorite because it won this event in 2025 and returned to victory lane at Watkins Glen.

LMP2 may provide the closest class battle. George Kurtz and Alex Quinn lead with 1,355 points. Jeremy Clarke and Tom Dillmann trail by 70, while PJ Hyett and Dane Cameron sit 81 points back.

Each leading team arrives with a different strength. CrowdStrike owns the points lead. Inter Europol owns the latest result. AO owns the recent Road America history.

CrowdStrike Racing by APR: The Consistency Favorite

The No. 04 has finished strongly enough to lead after four rounds. Quinn and Kurtz also finished second at CTMP, limiting the damage from Inter Europol’s victory.

Road America should suit Quinn’s closing speed. However, the team must manage the Bronze-driver phase without losing the leading fuel cycle.

A podium is the minimum realistic target. Victory depends on matching AO and Inter Europol during the final professional-driver stints.

Inter Europol Competition: The Form Team

Dillmann and Clarke controlled CTMP from pole. Their final splash took 34.269 seconds on pit lane, compared with CrowdStrike’s 35.470 seconds.

That difference shows why Inter Europol is dangerous. The team can win through pace and execution rather than waiting for a caution.

Road America creates a larger traffic problem than CTMP because all four classes compete. Inter Europol must protect its Bronze-driver phase while faster GTP cars arrive.

AO Racing: The Road America Race Pick

AO Racing won LMP2 at Road America in 2025 with Hyett and Cameron. The team then broke through for its first 2026 victory at Watkins Glen.

Cameron remains one of the class’s strongest closing drivers. The No. 99 also understands how to protect track position during a late caution.

Its main weakness is the championship gap created earlier in the season. Nevertheless, 81 points can disappear in one race. A Road America repeat would bring AO directly into the title fight.

Other LMP2 Entries to Watch

Daniel Goldburg sits fourth with 1,242 points. His results keep him within 113 points of the lead.

Misha Goikhberg is fifth on 1,131. Mikkel Jensen and Phil Fayer follow on 1,114. Any of these lineups can reach the podium if the leading three lose time.

🎯
LMP2 prediction

Winner: No. 99 AO Racing. Podium: AO Racing, CrowdStrike Racing, Inter Europol. The championship lead should remain close regardless of the winner.

🟢

GTD PRO Favorites: Paul Miller Racing Versus the Momentum Teams

BMW leads the points · Lexus has won two straight · Corvette and Porsche remain close

Who are the GTD PRO favorites at Road America?

Paul Miller Racing is the championship and defending Road America favorite. Vasser Sullivan’s No. 14 Lexus is the strongest form pick after winning Watkins Glen and CTMP. The No. 4 Corvette and AO Racing’s No. 77 Porsche are close enough to win or take the points lead.

Connor De Phillippi and Neil Verhagen lead GTD PRO with 1,910 points. Nicky Catsburg and Tommy Milner sit second on 1,802. Harry King and Nick Tandy are third with 1,766.

The table is compressed. Alexander Sims and Antonio Garcia have 1,765, while Ben Barnicoat and Jack Hawksworth sit on 1,760. Christopher Mies and Frederic Vervisch follow with 1,742.

Paul Miller Racing BMW: The Complete Favorite

The No. 1 BMW won GTD PRO at Road America in 2025. It also leads the current championship by 108 points.

De Phillippi and Verhagen finished third at CTMP despite contact from an LMP2 car. That result became their third podium and fifth top-five finish in six races.

The M4 GT3 EVO should work on Road America’s long straights. Its stability also supports tire life through the fast middle sector.

However, Paul Miller cannot race only for points. Vasser Sullivan has moved rapidly toward the lead. Another Lexus victory would place real pressure on the BMW.

Vasser Sullivan Lexus: The Best Current Form

Barnicoat and Hawksworth have won two consecutive GTD PRO races. At CTMP, a short first fill helped the No. 14 gain track position.

Barnicoat then completed the pass for the lead and controlled 78 of the final 118 laps. The Lexus won by 1.993 seconds.

Road America asks more from straight-line speed than CTMP. Nevertheless, the RC F GT3 has proven reliability and a strong pit crew.

The No. 14 Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3 during its 2026 IMSA GTD PRO campaign
Vasser Sullivan’s No. 14 Lexus enters Road America after consecutive GTD PRO victories. Official image: IMSA.

Corvette Racing: Two Cars, Two Different Routes

The No. 4 Corvette sits second in the standings. The No. 3 is only one point behind AO Racing’s third-place Porsche pairing.

Corvette’s strength is depth. One car can protect track position while the other tries an alternate fuel cycle.

The Z06 GT3.R also gains from braking stability. However, the team needs a clean race after finishing fourth at CTMP.

AO Racing’s Rexy: A Real Six-Hour Threat

King and Tandy finished second at CTMP. Strategy helped the No. 77 return to the podium for the first time since Laguna Seca.

The Porsche 911 GT3 R traditionally offers strong traction and tire consistency. Those qualities matter during Road America’s long afternoon.

Rexy does not need a surprise result to win. It needs the race to remain clean enough for pace to matter.

Ford and McLaren: High-Speed Dark Horses

Ford’s leading No. 65 sits sixth in the championship. The Mustang GT3’s long-straight performance makes it relevant at Road America.

RLL Team McLaren sits ninth, but the 720S GT3 EVO led at CTMP before the Lexus passed. A strong qualifying session could make McLaren a podium threat.

🎯
GTD PRO prediction

Winner: No. 14 Vasser Sullivan Lexus. Podium: Lexus, Paul Miller BMW, AO Racing Porsche. Dark horse: No. 65 Ford Mustang GT3.

🟡

GTD Favorites: Heart of Racing Leads a Wide-Open Class

Aston Martin leads the points · Mercedes has two wins · Ferrari defends Road America

Who are the GTD favorites at Road America?

Heart of Racing leads the championship and remains the safest endurance favorite. Winward Racing has won twice in 2026 and carries the strongest recent race form. Vasser Sullivan sits second in points, while Triarsi Competizione returns as the defending Road America GTD winner.

Dudu Barrichello leads GTD with 1,825 points. Aaron Telitz and Benjamin Pedersen share second on 1,733. Patrick Gallagher and Robby Foley follow on 1,705.

Philip Ellis and Russell Ward sit fourth with 1,618. Albert Costa is fifth on 1,537. Therefore, the championship remains open across several manufacturers.

Heart of Racing Aston Martin: The Championship Favorite

Barrichello’s first full IMSA season has produced a points lead, poles and consistent results. He has adapted quickly despite learning most circuits.

Heart of Racing’s endurance lineup has also shown speed. The Aston Martin was competitive at Daytona and Sebring, while Barrichello remained the only full-season driver through schedule changes.

CTMP produced a penalty during the first stop. Roman De Angelis recovered the car to sixth. That result preserved a 92-point lead.

Road America should reward the Vantage GT3 Evo’s balance. However, the team must avoid another pit-lane mistake during the six-hour race.

Dudu Barrichello with the Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo and a 2026 Motul Pole Award
Dudu Barrichello leads the 2026 GTD standings for Heart of Racing. Official image: IMSA.

Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG: The Race-Win Favorite

Ellis and Ward became the first GTD entry to win twice in 2026. They won the Rolex 24 and returned to victory at CTMP.

CTMP showed the team’s restart strength. Pit work moved the car forward, then Ellis attacked immediately after the final restart.

He compared the move with a Road America restart from last season. That experience strengthens the Mercedes case.

The championship gap is 207 points, so Winward can prioritize wins. That freedom often produces aggressive strategy.

Vasser Sullivan Lexus: The Points Challenger

Telitz and Pedersen sit second in the standings. They finished second at CTMP, continuing a consistent campaign.

The Lexus may lack the highest straight-line speed, but it protects tires and executes well. A six-hour race rewards both qualities.

Vasser Sullivan’s GTD PRO success also matters. The organization arrives with confidence across both GT classes.

Turner Motorsport BMW: The Quiet Podium Machine

Gallagher and Foley are third in the standings. They finished third at CTMP and remain only 120 points behind Barrichello.

The BMW M4 GT3 EVO won GTD PRO at Road America in 2025. Turner can use the same manufacturer knowledge for its GTD setup.

A clean race could move the No. 96 into the championship lead conversation.

Triarsi Competizione Ferrari: The Defending Winner

Triarsi won GTD at Road America in 2025. Kenton Koch passed Alec Udell inside the final seven minutes and took the No. 021 Ferrari to victory.

The 2026 points position is less impressive. However, track experience and Ferrari straight-line speed create an upset case.

The final entry list will confirm the Road America driver lineup. Until then, Triarsi remains a team-level dark horse rather than a fixed driver prediction.

What the 2025 Road America Race Tells Us

BMW strategy · AO execution · Paul Miller patience · Triarsi late pass

Who won Road America IMSA in 2025?

BMW M Team RLL won GTP with Philipp Eng and Dries Vanthoor, leading a BMW 1-2. AO Racing won LMP2, Paul Miller Racing won GTD PRO and Triarsi Competizione won GTD. A caution seven minutes after BMW’s final stops changed the overall race.

The 2025 race lasted two hours and 40 minutes, so the 2026 format is very different. Nevertheless, the winning lessons remain useful.

BMW Proved the Value of Pitting Before the Yellow

BMW called both GTP cars into the pits with roughly one hour remaining. The fifth full-course caution appeared seven minutes later.

Rivals stopped under caution, while the BMWs cycled forward. Eng and Vanthoor won ahead of Wittmann and Sheldon van der Linde.

The lesson is not that every early stop works. The lesson is that teams need a fuel window wide enough to benefit when a caution arrives.

AO Racing Converted Track Position Into LMP2 Victory

Hyett and Cameron won ahead of Inter Europol and TDS Racing. AO then returned to victory at Watkins Glen in 2026.

That combination makes AO the strongest historical LMP2 pick. It has current form and direct Road America evidence.

Paul Miller Racing Won Through Patience

Verhagen and Madison Snow won GTD PRO. The result was Paul Miller Racing’s first victory of the 2025 season.

One year later, Verhagen returns as the current championship leader with De Phillippi. The driver pairing has changed, but the team’s circuit knowledge remains.

Triarsi Won GTD With a Late Pass

Koch took the lead at Turn 6 inside the final seven minutes. The Ferrari then held the position to the finish.

That result shows why GTD predictions remain difficult. Road America creates enough passing zones for the final stint to matter.

🧠
Historical lesson

Road America does not reward one universal approach. The 2025 winners used caution timing, track position, patient tire use and a late on-track pass across four different classes.

🔍

Five Factors That Can Change the Predictions

Entry list · qualifying · traffic · cautions · weather

1. The Final Endurance Driver Lineups

The Road America entry list was not yet displayed on the official event page. Therefore, every additional endurance driver should remain provisional until IMSA publishes the list.

A strong third driver can transform a six-hour race. That driver may complete the middle stint, protect tires and hand the car to the closer in the correct fuel window.

2. Qualifying Points and Clean Air

IMSA awards qualifying points. Pole also provides clean air for the opening stint.

The No. 93 Acura is the strongest pole prediction because it started first here in 2025. Cadillac remains a close second after dominating Watkins Glen qualifying.

World of Speed explains how racing qualifying works, why grid position matters and what pole position means.

3. Multiclass Traffic

Four classes create repeated traffic waves. A GTP leader can lose several seconds while following GT cars through the Carousel.

Meanwhile, GT leaders must race their own class without surprising faster prototypes. Predictable lines matter more than dramatic defensive moves.

4. Full-Course Caution Timing

A caution can erase a 20-second lead and reset every class. It can also reward a car that stopped moments earlier.

The best teams will split strategies between sister cars. One entry can remain on the conventional cycle, while the other creates an offset.

Readers can review the role of a safety car and how racing flags work.

5. Weather and Track Temperature

No reliable August 2 forecast exists this far from race day. Therefore, the predictions assume a mainly dry race.

Heat would increase tire stress. Rain would expand the contender list and place more weight on driver judgment.

A current forecast should be added during race week. Until then, any precise rain percentage would be speculation.

Road America IMSA 2026 Predictions

Editorial forecasts based on current form and circuit fit

Who will win Road America IMSA 2026?

The No. 31 Cadillac Whelen is the overall prediction because it combines the championship lead with dominant endurance form. The No. 93 Acura is the pole pick. AO Racing is selected in LMP2, Vasser Sullivan Lexus in GTD PRO and Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG in GTD.

These forecasts are not guarantees. The entry list, Balance of Performance, weather and qualifying order can change the hierarchy.

Still, current evidence supports a clear GTP favorite. Cadillac Whelen has two wins and the strongest points position. Its Watkins Glen performance also proved six-hour pace.

Overall Pole Prediction

No. 93 Acura Meyer Shank Racing. The entry took Road America pole in 2025 and remains one of the season’s strongest qualifying packages.

Cadillac Whelen is the closest alternative. Aitken took Watkins Glen pole before controlling the race.

Predicted GTP Podium

  1. No. 31 Cadillac Whelen: best form, strongest endurance execution and championship control.
  2. No. 93 Acura Meyer Shank Racing: qualifying speed and a Watkins Glen runner-up finish.
  3. No. 24 BMW M Team WRT: track-history choice after BMW’s 2025 1-2.

The No. 7 Porsche is the first car outside the projected podium. The No. 5 JDC-Miller Porsche receives the dark-horse selection.

Most Likely Upset

The No. 5 JDC-Miller Porsche is the best overall upset pick. Heinrich has already won a GTP race and produced a remarkable Watkins Glen recovery.

In GTD, Triarsi Competizione carries the strongest track-specific upset case. The team won here last season despite entering 2026 outside the championship leaders.

Championship Prediction After Road America

Aitken should retain the GTP lead unless Cadillac suffers a major problem. The more likely change is behind him, where Acura and Porsche remain separated by small margins.

LMP2 could change leaders. CrowdStrike’s 70-point advantage is smaller than one race’s available swing.

Paul Miller Racing should also retain the GTD PRO lead, but Vasser Sullivan can move much closer. GTD remains open if Heart of Racing suffers another penalty or poor finish.

The six-hour Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix runs Sunday, August 2, from 11:40 a.m. to 5:40 p.m. ET at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. GTP, LMP2, GTD PRO and GTD are scheduled to compete.
Who leads GTP before Road America?
Jack Aitken leads with 2,145 points. Laurin Heinrich is second on 1,942, while Renger van der Zande and Nick Yelloly share third with 1,900. Cadillac Whelen also leads the GTP team standings.
Who is favored to win the Road America race?
The No. 31 Cadillac Whelen is the overall favorite after wins at Detroit and Watkins Glen. The No. 93 Acura, leading Porsche entries and both BMW M Team WRT cars are the strongest challengers.
Who are the class favorites?
CrowdStrike, Inter Europol and AO Racing headline LMP2. Paul Miller Racing and Vasser Sullivan lead GTD PRO. Heart of Racing, Winward Racing, Vasser Sullivan and defending Road America winner Triarsi Competizione form the leading GTD group.

Conclusion: Cadillac Starts Ahead, but Road America Offers Four Real GTP Routes to Victory

The Road America IMSA 2026 Preview begins with the No. 31 Cadillac Whelen as the clear overall favorite. Aitken leads the championship, while the team has won two of the last three GTP races.

Watkins Glen confirmed the Cadillac’s six-hour strength. It took pole, led most of the race and controlled the final phase.

However, Road America creates a different challenge. The No. 93 Acura has a strong pole case. Porsche brings factory depth and a dangerous private entry. BMW returns with the car that finished first and second last season.

The track will reward straight-line efficiency, but high-speed balance remains essential. The Carousel can expose front-tire weakness, while the Kink punishes impatient traffic moves.

LMP2 should produce the closest class fight. CrowdStrike leads the points, Inter Europol has the latest victory and AO Racing carries the strongest Road America history.

GTD PRO may become a contest between Paul Miller Racing’s championship control and Vasser Sullivan’s recent momentum. Corvette and AO Racing remain close enough to win.

GTD is wider open. Heart of Racing leads, Winward has two victories and Vasser Sullivan remains only 92 points behind. Triarsi returns as the defending Road America winner.

The six-hour format increases the value of complete execution. Teams need clean driver changes, flexible fuel windows and enough tire performance for the final restart.

Weather remains unconfirmed, while the final entry list may add important endurance drivers. Those details can move the predictions during race week.

For now, the projected overall podium is Cadillac, Acura and BMW. Cadillac owns the strongest form, but Road America has enough speed, traffic and strategy to prevent an easy victory.
