Spa Formula 2 2026: Full Schedule, Session Times, TV Coverage & Streaming Guide

The Belgian round uses the standard three-day Formula 2 format. Friday establishes pace and both starting grids. Saturday delivers the shorter reverse-grid Sprint. Sunday holds the longer Feature Race, which carries more points and requires a pit stop under normal dry conditions.

The table below uses confirmed track times from Formula 2 and the Belgian Grand Prix timetable. Eastern Time is listed first because this guide targets U.S. viewers. Belgium is six hours ahead of ET during this July weekend.

The Sprint is scheduled for 18 laps or 45 minutes plus one lap. The Feature Race is scheduled for 25 laps or 60 minutes plus one lap. Delays, red flags, weather procedures, or safety-car starts can change the actual finish time.

For 2026, Apple is Formula 1’s exclusive U.S. broadcast partner. F1 TV is included within an Apple TV subscription in the United States, and the official F1 TV product page lists live access to F2, F3, F1 Academy, and Porsche Supercup. Therefore, Spa F2 coverage is not an ESPN listing in the United States this season.

The practical route is simple. Open Apple TV, enter the Formula 1 area, and select the F1 TV experience or the Formula 2 session listing. The interface may separate the junior categories from the main Belgian Grand Prix feed. Consequently, searching “Formula 2 Spa” can be faster than opening the F1 race card.

Can I watch the Spa F2 replay later?

This article is not built from a preseason placeholder timetable. Three sessions are already complete. That gives Sunday’s Feature Race a clear competitive shape.

Confirmed Spa F2 Sprint Race result

Dürksen’s win was not a simple lights-to-flag drive. Sebastián Montoya launched well from pole, but Stenshorne used the tow to attack at Les Combes. Dürksen later cleared Montoya and then passed Stenshorne for the lead. Two Safety Car periods compressed the field, yet Dürksen handled the final restart.

The result also showed why Spa Formula 2 races rarely stay settled. A driver can lead out of La Source and still become vulnerable before Les Combes. The Kemmel Straight creates a powerful tow, while DRS makes the closing speed even greater. Therefore, the lead car must decide whether to defend early or protect the exit for the next sequence.

Qualifying penalties that changed the grids

Noel León originally qualified 10th. However, the stewards deleted all his qualifying times after ruling that he caused the first red flag. He received permission to start both races behind the classified drivers.

Emerson Fittipaldi and Cian Shields received 10-place penalties for yellow-flag infringements. Rafael Villagómez received a five-place penalty. Those sanctions applied to both Spa races. Consequently, the final Feature grid differs from the raw qualifying classification outside the leading group.

Formula 2 uses a compact weekend because the championship shares the event with Formula 1, Formula 3, and other support categories. Drivers receive one 45-minute practice session. They then face one 30-minute qualifying session on Friday.

The 2026 sporting regulations say the mandatory stop cannot count until the driver has completed six laps. It also cannot be completed during a Virtual Safety Car unless the car was already in pit entry or the pit lane when the VSC began. At least two wheels must be changed.

Under normal dry conditions, drivers must use both available dry-weather tyre specifications during the Feature Race. Wet-weather use can remove that requirement. That creates the core strategic choice: start on the quicker option tyre and stop earlier, or start on the prime tyre and extend the first stint.

Formula 2 points available at Spa

Spa-Francorchamps is not simply a long circuit. Its 7.004-kilometer lap links several different aerodynamic problems. Teams need enough downforce for the middle sector, yet they also need low drag on the Kemmel Straight. Too much wing makes the car vulnerable in a tow. Too little wing can punish the tyres and driver confidence through Pouhon and the fast second sector.

La Source decides the Kemmel Straight battle

La Source is the opening hairpin. It looks like an isolated passing corner, but its exit also begins the run toward Eau Rouge, Raidillon, and Kemmel. A driver who sacrifices the apex to build a clean exit can gain more by Les Combes than a rival who attacks too aggressively at Turn 1.

The same pattern repeats during restarts. Cars bunch into La Source, then spread while climbing Raidillon. Slipstream strength grows rapidly. Therefore, the lead driver is often exposed even after a perfect restart.

Eau Rouge and Raidillon punish uncertainty

The famous climb is usually taken at very high speed in dry conditions. However, Formula 2 drivers still need complete confidence in the car’s balance. A small correction can scrub speed and ruin the lap before Kemmel. In mixed conditions, the grip level at the bottom may not match the surface at the top.

That uncertainty appeared during qualifying. Rain was in the air, and teams fitted supersoft tyres. Noel León spun at Raidillon and caused the first red flag. Later, Laurens van Hoepen stopped on the start-finish straight and triggered another stoppage. The field then had one final push lap.

The second sector rewards car balance

Les Combes starts the technical middle part of the lap. Bruxelles, No Name, Pouhon, Fagnes, and Stavelot ask the car to change direction while maintaining tyre load. A driver who carries too much entry speed can overheat the front tyres. A conservative line costs time immediately.

Blanchimont arrives near the end of a long lap. Drivers have already managed tyres, traffic, and changing fuel load. The corner is fast and narrow. In the Sprint, a spin into a stoppage at Blanchimont brought out the second Safety Car and created the final-lap shootout.

This is why Spa races can change after appearing settled. A mistake far from the start-finish line creates a long recovery and cleanup process. The field then receives a compressed restart with immediate tow opportunities.

Weather is a strategic variable, not background noise

The Ardennes weather can change quickly across the circuit. A shower may reach Les Combes before the pit straight. Consequently, drivers can discover damp asphalt at racing speed before the pit wall has a complete picture.

Teams monitor radar, marshal posts, onboard cameras, and driver feedback. However, the decision still arrives with imperfect information. Pitting for wet tyres one lap early can lose huge time. Waiting one lap too long can leave the car on slicks through a soaked sector.

1. Câmara has track position, but not a comfortable margin

Câmara’s pole lap was excellent, yet Inthraphuvasak finished only 0.039 seconds behind. Dunne and Tsolov fill the next row. Therefore, the first four combine a pole sitter, a near-pole rival, a championship contender, and the current points leader.

Starting first helps Câmara control the opening run into La Source. However, leading after Turn 1 can expose him to the tow. He may need to choose between defending at Les Combes and preserving tyre life for the first stint.

2. Tsolov can turn damage limitation into another strong weekend

Tsolov entered Spa as the championship leader. He topped practice, qualified fourth, and finished fourth in the Sprint. That result moved him to 146 points. Gabriele Minì remains second on 124 after retiring from the Sprint.

The gap is now 22 points. A Feature Race win pays 25, so the standings can still move sharply. However, Tsolov does not need a desperate opening lap. A podium with strong tyre management could protect or extend his lead.

3. Minì faces a recovery race

Minì’s Sprint retirement made Sunday more important. He cannot allow Tsolov to score freely. Yet forcing a move too early at Spa can damage the tyres or the front wing. His route forward may depend on a long first stint, a timely Safety Car, or clean overtakes before the field spreads.

4. The undercut is powerful, but Spa’s long lap complicates it

Fresh tyres can produce a major lap-time gain. Nevertheless, an early stop may release a driver into traffic. Spa’s lap length also means the rival stays out for a long time before responding. The undercutting car must keep the new tyres alive while navigating slower traffic.

The overcut can work when a driver has clean air and stable tyre performance. However, a late Safety Car can reward or punish either choice. Teams will track gaps to midfield cars as closely as the gap to the race leader.

5. Safety Car timing can split the strategy field

The Sprint required two Safety Car periods. That does not guarantee another neutralization, but it shows the risk profile. Spa has long recovery routes, high-speed corners, gravel, and barriers. A stopped car can force race control to act.

The mandatory stop cannot normally count under a VSC unless the driver was already entering or inside the pit lane. Therefore, a VSC can create awkward timing. A full Safety Car can also compress the field after some drivers have stopped and others have not.

6. The points race is now tightly packed behind the leader

Câmara and Dunne are separated by one point. Both start ahead of the championship leader. Consequently, Sunday is not only about the victory. It is also a direct fight for third in the standings and a chance to reduce the gap before Budapest.

7. Invicta has momentum at Spa

Dürksen’s Sprint win gave Invicta a third consecutive Spa victory across the 2025 and 2026 weekends. Câmara then starts the Feature from pole. The team has both the immediate track position and recent evidence that its car works at this circuit.

However, the Feature is a different test. Pit-stop execution, tyre choice, and traffic management now matter. A fast car can still lose the race through a slow stop or an unsafe release.

A realistic Feature Race outlook

Câmara is the logical favorite because he starts from pole and has qualifying speed. Inthraphuvasak is close enough to attack immediately. Dunne and Tsolov can win if their race pace and pit timing are stronger. Meanwhile, Minì remains a recovery threat if the strategy opens.

No outcome is safe to guarantee. Spa creates large tow effects, weather uncertainty, and expensive pit decisions. The strongest prediction is that the race will be decided by a combination of first-stint tyre control and the timing of the mandatory stop, not by raw qualifying pace alone.
